SENIOR BUILDING CODE CONSULTANT (Toronto and Vancouver)

We are seeking senior code consultants for our Mississauga and Vancouver offices to prepare building code reports, review design drawings for code compliance, and conduct field reviews relative to good building code compliance.

An ideal candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge of Part 3 of the National Building Code of Canada and applicable Provincial Building Code, as well as a thorough understanding of the background and principles that form the basis of these codes. It is essential that the applicant have significant experience in the construction and field review process of Part 3 buildings. The applicant should also have very good knowledge of fire protection principles, with a sufficient fire protection engineering background to develop performance-based alternative solutions to building code compliance issues.

The applicant should be comfortable dealing directly with clients, and should be able to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with design professionals, contractors, and building code authorities.

The applicant must be an Engineer with 5-10 years' relevant experience. Strong computer skills, especially with CAD or modelling software, are an asset. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

AutoCAD TECHNICIAN (Vancouver)

We are seeking an individual for our Vancouver office to assist our busy consultant team with Building Code Compliance drawings. 

Position requirements include exceptional skills in AutoCAD 2005 (or newer), the ability to work in a deadline-driven, team environment, the ability to multi-task, and great communication skills. Exposure to Part 3 of the B.C. Building Code would be an asset, as would an understanding of fire protection principles. This position will offer opportunities to participate in some of Vancouver's most exciting and innovative construction projects, as well as opportunities for advancement for the right candidate.

Applicants should be recent graduates of the Architectural and Building Engineering Technology/Building Technology Program at BCIT.
