We’re looking to expand our Toronto team by adding a skilled Intermediate Building Code Consultant who can review, develop and document approaches to building code compliance related to Fire Protection and Life Safety Building Code requirements.

Are you a P.Eng, Registered Architect or Technologist (or training/eligible to become one) who enjoys rigid structure, ridiculous hours, isolation in cubicles, limited access to projects, and doing the same thing every day? About the position

As an Intermediate Fire Protection and Life Safety Building Code Consultant, you will review drawings, reports and conduct other research to identify building codes issues and develop approaches to demonstrate compliance, including performance-based approaches and then document them in Fire Protection and Life Safety Building Code reports and code compliance drawings.

In addition, you’ll support our work as Authority Having Jurisdiction, Independent Code Compliance, and as a Registered Code Agency, including performing plans examination, construction site reviews, alternative solution reviews for compliance with applicable building code requirements.

* Professional engineer, Registered Architect or technologist (or training/eligible to become one)

* Minimum two years of relevant experience

* Good working knowledge of Part 3 of the National Building Code of Canada and/or Ontario Building Code as well as the fire protection principles and background that form the basis of these codes

* Eligible to obtain Transport Canada and/or Government of Canada security clearances

* Drivers license and regular access to a vehicle

* Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)

* Proficiency with CAD and/or PDF

* Good interpersonal, client-relations skills.
