Edward N. MacKinnon, MAIBC, MRAIC, CP – Principal and President
Mr.
MacKinnon has a wide range of experience in the practice of
Architecture. He has experience in all aspects of getting the project
built. He has gained a thorough understanding of building systems,
engineering requirements, Building Codes and regulations. He also has
extensive experience negotiating acceptance with authorities having
jurisdiction.
Mr.
MacKinnon has lectured in many courses regarding Building Codes and
regulations, and has a thorough understanding of their intent and
practical application in relation to building projects. Through his
experience representing the Authority Having Jurisdiction for the EXPO
86 site, he has gained a special insight relative to the regulatory
process.
Mr.
MacKinnon has been a member of the B.C. Building
Code Appeal Board since 1990. He has also been on the City of Vancouver
Building Board of Appeal since 1997 and has been chair of the Board
since 1999.
Mr.
MacKinnon is an architect with experience in all aspects of project
design and construction, specializing in Building Code analysis and
consulting. As such, he can relate to projects through all stages of
work necessary to see projects to their successful completion. He is
also a Certified
Professional.
Emmanuel A. Domingo, P.Eng. – Principal
Mr.
Domingo has extensive experience in Building Code and fire protection
consulting, particularly in the analysis of: fire-resistance ratings of
walls, floor and roof assemblies; smoke control systems; building
exposure systems; and egress systems. His experience also includes
computer modelling and design of specialized sprinkler systems.
Mr.
Domingo is a professional engineer registered in B.C., Manitoba and
Ontario, specializing in Building Code consulting, and the analysis and
review of building construction and fire protection systems. He is
active in both our Vancouver and Toronto offices; his current projects
include the Vancouver International Airport , Winnipeg International
Airport and the Toronto Pearson International Airport redevelopment
projects.
Mr.
Domingo is a member of the NRC's Standing Committee on Use and Egress
for the 2010 National Building and Fire Codes and of the APEGBC's
Building Code Committee.
Glenn A. Gibson, M.Eng., P.Eng., CP – Principal
Mr.
Gibson has a wide range of experience in Building Code and fire
protection consulting gained through participation in industry-related
associations, industry-specific course training and more than 18 years
in the consulting field.
These
experiences have included: applying fire protection engineering methods
to solve practical building code-related problems; development of
Building Code equivalencies; development of atrium fire protection
concepts; design and evaluation of fire protection systems and
development of fire protection concepts for industrial occupancies.
Mr.
Gibson is a professional engineer registered in B.C., Alberta,
Manitoba, Ontario and the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, with a
Master’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering. He specializes in
Building Code consulting and the analysis and review of building
construction and fire protection systems. He is also a Certified
Professional and a member of the BC Building Code Interpretation
Committee.
Frank Mattia,
AScT – Principal
Mr.
Mattia joined the firm in 1989 and became a Principal in 2001. He is a
Building Technologist with extensive experience in building
design/construction, and building code and fire protection consulting.
He has worked on numerous Certified
Professional projects and has provided services on various projects
where LMDG has acted in the capacity of the Authority Having
Jurisdiction, including the Hampton Place residential
developments on the University Endowment Lands in Vancouver.
Other
projects Mr. Mattia has been involved with include the West Vancouver
Community Centre; Whistler Four Seasons Hotel; General Motors Place;
Burnaby Mountain Secondary School; the Mole Hill Community Housing
Development; the new Richmond City Hall; the Smithers Airport
Assessment; Robson Central (the former Vancouver Public Library Main
Branch at Burrard and Robson Streets); the Lester B. Pearson
International Airport redevelopment in Toronto; and the Spectrum,
Laguna and Woodward’s projects in Vancouver.
Geoff W. Triggs, AScT,
Eng.L. – Principal
Mr.
Triggs joined the firm in 1999 and became a Principal in 2005. He is a
Building Technologist and Limited Licensee (Engineering), with more
than 15 years of experience in building code and fire protection
consulting. His extensive consulting experience includes shopping
centres, healthcare facilities and hospitals, high tech and
transportation facilities, highrise commercial/residential buildings,
interior design, and industrial and insurance fire protection analysis.
In
recent years, Mr. Triggs has been involved in several
transportation-related projects, including the SkyTrain Millennium Line
and various bridge/overbuild/viaduct studies. He has extensive
experience working on Certified
Professional and Independent Professional projects. Recent major
projects include Costco/Concord Pacific Area 7B (The Spectrum); Shaw
Tower; Living Shangri-La; and B.C. Children's Hospital; as well as the
Quigg Capella Development in Langford, B.C.; Whistler Creekside
Development; and the Whistler Four Seasons Hotel/Residences Project. In
addition, Mr. Triggs is involved in the design development of two
athletic venues for the 2010 Winter Olympic games: the Richmond
Speedskating Oval and the Whistler Sliding Centre.
Mr.
Triggs has been a key team member of the new Vancouver Convention
Centre Expansion Project (VCCEP) in the application and coordination of
various performance-based approaches being developed by LMDG. Alternate
solutions using performance-based approaches have also been implemented
on such projects as the new Save-On Foods Memorial Centre Arena in Victoria, B.C.; the Living Shangri-La Project in
Vancouver, B.C.; and
the Conservatory Residential Resort Project in Kelowna, B.C.
Alan M. Jung, AScT
– Principal
Mr.
Jung joined the firm in 1998, and became a Principal in 2005. He is a
Building Technologist with experience in design/construction, building
code review, and building permit administration. He has extensive
experience as a municipal commercial plan checker at the City of Burnaby.
Concentrating
largely on projects in the City of Surrey
and at the University
of British Columbia,
Mr. Jung specializes in Certified
Professional and Coordinating Code Consultant work on complex
projects. Recently, Mr. Jung has been involved with the UBC Life
Sciences Centre, Chem-Bio and C.E.R.C., the Aquatics Ecosystems
Research Laboratory, the Marine Towers Residences, the NRC Institute
for Fuel Cell Innovation and Winter Sport Complex for the 2010 Olympics
at UBC; the Infinity Towers residential/commercial development in
Surrey; the Surrey Arts Centre addition; the Surrey Place Mall (Central
City) project, including extensive tenant improvements such as SFU at
Central City; North Surrey Recreation Centre; South Surrey
Multi-Purpose Building; Surrey Ice Centre; and Fleetwood Aquatic
Centre.
Kin Man
Wong, M.Sc., P.Eng., CP – Senior
Associate
Mr.
Wong joined the firm in 2001, and became a Senior Associate in 2005. He
specializes in fire modelling and building code analysis. He has more
than 20 years’ experience in Fire Protection Engineering, as a building
and fire code consultant, fire and smoke modelling software developer,
project manager, and lecturer with Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Nanyang Technological
University
in Singapore.
He was also the editor of the Singapore Fire Code.
Mr.
Wong is a professional engineer, registered in B.C., Singapore, and the U.K. He is also a Certified
Professional in B.C. He attained a Master’s degree in Fire Safety
Engineering from the University
of Edinburgh.
Current and recent projects include the Vancouver Convention Centre
Expansion; the Arena Stage project in Washington,
D.C.; UBC’s ICICS Building;
the University of Manitoba’s Engineering & Information
Technology Complex; and the Paramount Cinemas in Vancouver. Mr. Wong has been invited
to lecture on the codes and practices of Performance-based designs to
the Tongji University in Shanghai
(2002), the Ministry of Public Security Fire Standards Department in Beijing (2006), Sichuan Fire Research Station
(2006) and the Armed Police Academy
in Beijing
(2006).
Richard G.
Boulton, AScT –
Senior Associate
Mr. Boulton joined the
firm in 2000 and became a Senior Associate in 2005. He is a mechanical
technologist with more than 15 years of experience in building code and
fire protection consulting. His consulting experience includes
commercial and industrial facilities, and residential highrise and
lowrise buildings. Mr. Boulton has extensive experience working on Certified
Professional projects, including industrial, commercial and
residential facilities. He has also worked on projects acting as the
Authority Having Jurisdiction.
Recent projects Mr.
Boulton has worked on include the Watermark Restaurant; Morris Wosk
Centre for Dialogue; the Segal Centre for Graduate Studies; the Hudson;
the Cruise Ship Terminal Expansion at Canada Place; Phases 2 & 3 of
the Portico residential development; the Simon Fraser UniverCity
project, and the West Chevron Expansion of the International Terminal
Building at Vancouver International Airport.
Eric D.
Teevens, C.Tech. – Senior
Associate
Mr. Teevens joined the firm in 2000 and became a Senior
Associate in 2005. He is an Architectural Technologist with extensive
experience in Building Code review and inspections. He was previously
employed with the City of Richmond
as a building inspector, and was responsible for numerous projects
including: highrise residential buildings, hotels, schools, shopping
centres and warehouses.
Recent projects include the Royal Jubilee Hospital
Redevelopment in Victoria, the Royal
Inland Hospital Redevelopment in Kamloops,
the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary
and the Shoal Point Condominium Development in Victoria. In Vancouver, Mr. Teevens
has experience on projects such as the Salvation Army’s Belkin House
and Southview Heights Assisted Living projects, and has also worked on
numerous Certified
Professional projects in Vancouver, including Concord Pacific
projects The Max, The ICON, and The Silver Sea; and the Escala,
Cascina, Denia and One and Two Harbour Green residential towers at
Waterfront Place in Coal Harbour.
James R. Ware, FPET – Senior
Associate
Mr.
Ware joined the firm in 2003 and became a Senior Associate in 2005. He
is a graduate of the Fire Protection Engineering Technology program at
Seneca College. He has extensive experience in building code consulting
and in the sprinkler industry. Major projects he has worked on have
included assembly, contained use, and health care facilities.
Currently, Mr. Ware is working in LMDG’s Toronto office on the Winnipeg
International Airport redevelopment, the Hamilton International
Airport, the Toronto Pearson International Airport redevelopment and
other projects in the Toronto area.
Erin L. McClintock, P.Eng.
Ms.
McClintock joined the firm in 2006. She is a graduate in Civil
Engineering of McMaster University. Ms. McClintock held Plans Examiner
and Building Engineer positions during the five years she spent at the
Corporation of the City of Hamilton, Ontario, as well as Acting Chief
Building Engineer. She was also Project Manager of the Construction
Department of McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada for more than five
years. Ms. McClintock is currently involved in the Toronto Pearson
International Airport redevelopment project and in a variety of other
projects in LMDG’s Toronto office.
Allan B. Arcangel, Dipl.T.
Mr.
Arcangel joined the firm in 2005. He is a graduate of the Building
Technology program at BCIT, and has more than 10 years’ experience in
code reviews, equivalency approvals, and inspections. Prior to joining
LMDG, Mr. Arcangel worked in the Planning and Building Departments at
the City of Burnaby.
He has experience in both residential and commercial construction. Mr.
Arcangel is involved in all aspects of code consulting work at LMDG,
with special emphasis on Certified
Professional and Coordinating Code Consultant project assistance.
David J. Steer, P.Eng.
Mr.
Steer joined the firm in 2004. A first-class honours graduate of the
University of Waterloo in Mechanical Engineering, he has several years’
experience in forensic consulting. Mr. Steer works on fire and smoke
modelling using FDS, cFAST and NFPA 92B, and conducts timed-exit
analysis using Simulex, as well as varied project work including
drawing and field reviews and report preparation.
Ryan P.
Martin, Dipl.T.
Mr. Martin joined the firm in 2001. He performs drawing
and field reviews and varied project work, including the preparation of
building code alternative solutions, occupant load distribution, and
providing Certified
Professional project assistance, as well as creating and revising
CAD drawings. He has a Diploma of Building Technology from BCIT.
Warren J. Marshall, Dipl.T.
Mr.
Marshall joined the firm in 2003. He is a graduate of the Building
Technology program at BCIT, and has several years’ experience as an
architectural technologist. Mr. Marshall works with CAD drawings,
including code compliance drawings, and provides varied project
assistance, including drawing and field reviews and report preparation.
Shawn M. Talarico, AScT
Mr.
Talarico joined the firm in 2005. He is a graduate of the Building
Technology Program at BCIT. Mr. Talarico works with CAD drawings,
conducts timed-exit analysis using Simulex, and provides varied project
assistance, including drawing and field reviews, and preparation of
building code reports.
Vladimir Lee
Mr.
Lee joined LMDG’s Vancouver office in 2008. He assists with AutoCAD
drawings and sketches. A graduate of the Kazak State Academy of
Architecture and Civil Engineering in Kazakstan, Mr. Lee also studied
at BCIT.
Eric
Pepers
Mr.
Pepers joined LMDG’s Toronto office in 2009. A graduate of the
Conestoga College Architecture - Construction Engineering Technology
program, he provides
varied project
assistance, including drawing and field reviews, and preparation of
building code reports.
Mark W. Urwin, CA -
Principal
Mr.
Urwin has been with the firm since its inception in 1988. He is a
Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in the engineering /
architectural consulting industry. Mr. Urwin acts as LMDG’s financial
controller and manages the administration of the office.
Deborah Dunaway, B.A.
Ms.
Dunaway has a B.A. (English) from McGill University. She joined the
firm in 1995, and types, edits and proofreads most of the documents
produced in the Vancouver office. Ms. Dunaway’s varied responsibilities
also include overseeing the junior administrative staff; editing LMDG’s
website and intranet; and preparing and coordinating the firm’s
proposals and marketing materials.
Tijana Vujic
Ms.
Vujic joined the firm in 2003. She provides reception and
administrative assistance in LMDG’s Toronto office.
Keiko Lee
Ms.
Lee joined the firm in 2007. As well as being the relief receptionist,
she is responsible for a number of administrative duties including
filing, cataloguing and maintaining our extensive library, and document
production, as well as some accounting.
Kira Hecht, B.A.
Ms.
Hecht joined LMDG’s Vancouver office in 2008. She provides varied
administrative assistance, including document production, library
maintenance, filing, and some word processing. Ms. Hecht has a
Bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia.
