New Qualifications
Geoff Triggs recently became eligible to use the new designation
Eng.L. (Limited Licence Engineering), part of an innovative program
from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of
B.C. (APEGBC). From their
web site:
The Limited Licence is a professional licence, allowing an individual to
practise engineering or geoscience within a clearly defined scope. It is
intended to recognize the fact that certain individuals who would not
otherwise be qualified for registration as a Professional Engineer or
Professional Geoscientist can be permitted to carry out certain specific
functions normally within the definition of Professional Engineering or
Professional Geoscience.
Geoff’s License is for the following scope:
Analysis, consultation, review, design of alternative solutions,
field review of alternative solutions, and reporting on the construction
of buildings and structures with respect to compliance to fire protection,
health, occupant safety and accessibility requirements of building and fire codes.
Scope of Practice limited to Division A, Division B Parts 1, 2, 3, 8, and 9
(and Part 10 of the Vancouver Building By-law) and Division C of the British
Columbia Building Code, National Building Code of Canada, and the Vancouver
Building By-law, plus British Columbia Fire Code, National Fire Code of
Canada and the Vancouver Fire By-law.
Congratulations, Geoff!
New Faces
Keiko Lee joined us
recently, to round out the administrative team in the Vancouver office.
We’ve reorganized a little, and Colleen is now at reception full-time,
while Keiko is in charge of filing, document assembly, and the library,
as well as relief reception. LMDG’s Vancouver office still doesn’t have a
voice mail system, to many callers’ surprise: instead, we rely on actual
people to respond, take messages or pass calls along to another team member
where possible, in order to avoid messages and telephone tag altogether!
Welcome!
