LMDG Named BC Wood WORKS! "Wood Champion" Principal Geoff Triggs attended the Canadian Wood Council's Wood WORKS! BC Gala, held March 9, 2009 at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, and accepted this year's Wood Champion award on behalf of the firm. Geoff has been involved with Wood WORKS! for several years now, speaking to industry groups in BC and Ontario about Wood Solutions and participating as a key member of the Mid-Rise Wood Initiative team. Structural Engineers Fast + Epp nominated LMDG for the Wood Champion award for our work with them developing the performance-based approach to building code compliance for the Wood Wave Roof at the Richmond Olympic Oval and other landmark projects in Metro Vancouver. The Wood Champion award recognizes an individual or firm that stands out as an advocate for wood and that has demonstrated a significant commitment to the use of wood. The firm as a whole, and Glenn Gibson, Kin Man Wong, Frank Mattia, Geoff Triggs and Dave Steer, in particular, have developed innovative alternative approaches and performance-based solutions to permit and promote the use of wood in projects all over British Columbia as well as elsewhere in Canada and world-wide.
